Dacey was selected from a wide array of diverse and experienced candidates. Dacey joins the Hingham athletic department with a litany of experience at the highest levels of collegiate and professional soccer. She has been a college head coach for over 10 years combined between Babson University and Barry University. Most recently as the head coach at Barry, Dacey compiled a 45-15-1 record over the last four seasons. While the steward of Barry's program, Dacey earned Sunshine State Conference 'Coach of the Year' honors twice (2018, 2019).
“I want to thank Rick Swanson and Jim Quatromoni for giving me the opportunity to be the next girl’s soccer coach at Hingham High School,” Dacey said. “I could not be more excited to lead a program that has had a winning tradition, multiple teams full of talent, and to be a part of a supportive community. As I start a new chapter in my career, I am as excited as ever to positively influence young females to be the best they can be on the field and in the classroom. My wish is to share my experiences and continue to take the program to new heights. I can’t wait to meet the team, get started on the field, and hopefully bring another State Championship to Hingham High School.”
In her first season at Barry in 2016, Dacey guided the Buccaneers to the NCAA Sweet 16 and the No. 9 overall ranking in the country.
“This is an exciting day, not just for our girls' soccer program, but for our school as a whole," Swanson said. "Our goal at Hingham High School is to create an environment where every student feels known, valued, welcomed and inspired by all of their teachers, including their coaches. Sarah Dacey is uniquely qualified to help us deliver on that promise. Her track record of building a positive culture both within and around programs at the highest level is truly exceptional. We look forward to seeing how Sarah’s soccer expertise will impact our team's success on the field, but we’re even more excited to see the ways in which she helps our student athletes to grow as leaders in the classroom and in the community.”
Prior to her time at Barry, Dacey served as a Division 1 Assistant Coach at Boston College and the University of Albany. Dacey helped lead the Great Danes to the America East Conference Finals in 2012 for the first time in school history. She was the head coach at Babson University where she compiled the best winning percentage in program history during her tenure from 2005-2010 (.603).
“We’re incredibly excited to have Sarah be the new coach of our girls soccer program," Quatromoni said. "While Sarah’s coaching track record at the collegiate level speaks for itself, what is really impressive about her is her commitment towards making each individual student athlete at all three levels both a better player and person. There is no question that Sarah will be an invaluable member of the Hingham community for years to come.”
A star in her own right, Dacey had a standout playing career. After playing three sports at Framingham High School, Dacey went on to play soccer at the University of North Carolina where she helped the Tar Heels win three NCAA Division 1 National Titles. She also was a member of North Carolina’s nationally esteemed women’s lacrosse programs where she reached a pair of NCAA Final Fours. Upon completion of her collegiate playing career, Dacey spent a single season at Boston College, Providence College, and the University of Tennessee as an assistant coach.
Dacey played professional soccer from February 2001 through March 2003 for the Women's United Soccer Association suiting up for the Carolina Courage and Boston Breakers.
