Hingham High School names Mary-Frances Monroe as Girls' Soccer Coach

Principal Rick Swanson and Director of Athletics Jim Quatromoni are proud to announce Mary-Frances Monroe as the next Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach at Hingham High School.

Monroe joins the Hingham athletic department with a litany of experience at the highest levels of collegiate and professional soccer. She has been a college head coach for 14 years combined between the University of Albany and the University of Miami. For the last two seasons, Coach Monroe has been an assistant coach with the Hingham Girls' Soccer Program.  Currently, Coach Monroe is the Commissioner of the Development Player League.  The DPL is an elite platform for youth soccer clubs to compete across the country.

"I am very excited to be the next girls' soccer coach at Hingham High School,"  Monroe said.  "I am looking forward to getting started and helping our student-athletes grow on and off of the field."

"We are extremely fortunate to have a coach with the level of experience that Coach Monroe has as both a player and a coach," Quatromoni said.  "We are looking forward to seeing her embrace her new role with our program and helping our student-athletes achieve the best versions of themselves."

Monroe had a standout playing career. After playing six sports over the course of her high school career in New York, Monroe went on to play soccer at the University of Connecticut and then the University of California Los Angeles.  During her college career, Monroe was a 2 time Academic All America, 4 time All-American, MVP of the PAC-10 Conference and 3 time Herman Award Finalist - an honor bestowed to the best female soccer player in the country.  She was also the NSCAA Freshman of the year at UConn.

After college Monroe was a member of the U.S. Women's National Team and played professionally overseas and with both the Philadelphia Charge and Boston Breakers.
