Hingham High School Names George Rose as Girls Varsity Cross Country Coach

Principal Rick Swanson and Director of Athletics Jim Quatromoni are proud to announce George Rose as the next Varsity Girls Cross Country Head Coach at Hingham High School.

Coach Rose joins the Hingham athletic department with over 30 years of cross country coaching experience. His head coaching stops include Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, Weymouth South High School, Carver High School, and Sacred Heart High School.  Coach Rose was the interim head women's coach at Bates College in 1990 and most recently an assistant coach at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham where he teaches Social Studies.

A two time Boston Globe Coach of the Year, Coach Rose led his teams at Notre Dame Academy to seven consecutive EMass titles and four consecutive state championships.  In 2010, the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association inducted George Rose into their Hall of Fame.  George Rose - MSTCA Hall of Fame

"I am grateful and excited to be invited to join the Hingham Harborwomen (and Harbormen) Cross Country teams as a coach, serving a school community which enjoys a celebrated and renowned athletic tradition and history," Rose said. "I am eager to share my life-long passion and experience of running and coaching with our Hingham High School student-athletes by bringing a holistic approach to the continued development of every member of our team."

Hingham High School Names Jordan Lay as Girls' Varsity Volleyball Coach

Principal Rick Swanson and Director of Athletics Jim Quatromoni are proud to announce Jordan Lay as the next Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach at Hingham High School.

Coach Lay joins the Hingham athletic department with 12 years of collegiate volleyball coaching experience. His Head Coaching stops include the Butler University Women's Club Team, Belhaven University, University of West Alabama, and Lamar University.  Coach Lay was most recently the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Mississippi State University.  

"I'm thrilled to be joining the Hingham family," Lay said. "A special thank you to Director of Athletics, Jim Quatromoni for entrusting me to lead our volleyball program.  I look forward to continuing the growing success of Hingham Volleyball and striving to reach new heights.  Go Harborwomen!"

"We are extremely fortunate to have a coach with the level of experience that Coach Lay has as both a player and a coach," Quatromoni said. "As Jordan mentioned in our interview, he aspires to help develop student-athletes that are champions of character while maintaining the highest level of competition. We look forward to seeing him embrace his new role with our program and helping our student-athletes achieve the best versions of themselves."

Hingham High School Names TJ Byrne as Varsity Football Coach

 

Principal Rick Swanson and Director of Athletics Jim Quatromoni are proud to announce TJ Byrne as the next Varsity Football Head Coach at Hingham High School.

Coach Byrne joins the Hingham High School athletic department with more than twenty years of high school coaching experience including eight seasons as a varsity head coach.  Coach Byrne has most recently been the varsity football coach at Weymouth High School a position he has held since 2018. A Hingham resident, TJ has been a Massachusetts State Trooper since 2005.

 “Being able to come home and be a part of the home town football team is special,” Byrne said.  “Hingham football has had a long-standing history of success and I am looking forward to continuing and contributing to that legacy.”

“Coach Byrne has proven that he can develop strong cultures which have lead to success on the field,” Quatromoni said.  “He truly recognizes the role of athletics in helping student-athletes achieve the best versions of themselves.  Coach is a resident of Hingham, and we look forward to welcoming him to our athletic community as our head football coach.”
