The two moments for me that
defined my 4 years of Athletics at Hingham High School are as follows:
First, in 2015, I was a
sophomore on the Hip Hop Dance Team. Our
team had been through a lot that season; this was the year that the student
section turned their backs on us during our breast cancer fundraiser. We lost
alot of our confidence and
didn’t know how we would do going into State Competition, I was nervous about
going and nervous about our confidence level and if we would be good enough to
compete. When it was Hingham’s turn to
take the floor, we went out there and danced our hearts out for us and no one
else. It was time for the awards, we all sat in a circle holding hands, they
announced the third place team, not us, then the second place team, also not
us... then he announced the first place team and it was HINGHAM, it was us and my heart
dropped, we had just won a state title for the first time in the history of
Hingham High’s Dance Team. This was a moment I would never forget!!.
I have been on the Varsity Basketball team here at HHS for 3 years. In the 2016-2017 season, we were a force to be reckoned with. We were undefeated in the Patriot League and ended up winning the Keenan Division Title. This meant putting a number up on the banner in the gym for the first time since 1999. It is very exciting to look up at the banner in the gym and know that I was part of that team and played a part in making that possible. After the 16-17 season, I was elected to be a Captain for the next season (my senior year). Although we did not have as much success as the previous season, I have a strong love for the game and all of my teammates so it was a great end to my high school basketball career. I plan to continue to represent my team as I will be playing Division 3 basketball next season at Curry College.
